Working Party on Physical Chemistry

Physical chemistry is clearly among the core areas of chemistry and should have its platform on the European level. We envision starting a working party in EuCheMS, where all fields of physical chemistry are represented. This working party will grow into a Division, eventually.

One theme of the new working party could be to discuss roadmaps for research and voice the ideas and interests of physical chemistry for research funding on European level. From my experience in the SusChem technology platform, which had been led by material science, processes, and biotechnology, I know that this can be quite fruitful. Other topics are clearly education, research cooperation and conferences. For example, we will have a physical chemistry session during the EuCheMS Chemistry Congress in N�rnberg in 2010. Compared to other fields of chemistry, as eg macromolecular science or organic chemistry, physical chemistry could also build up more interaction with industry. Written by Michael Dr�scher
