Professor Walter Kaminski gives EuCheMS Lecture
Professor Walter Kaminski will give the EuCheMS Lecture ‘Polyolefins – tailored by metallocene catalysts and easy pyrolyzed for feedstock recycling’ at the 18th EuCheMS Conference on Organometallic Chemistry (EuCOMC) on 25 June 2009 in Göteborg. Sweden
The topic of Walter Kaminski’s Lecture is very relevant in the context of the current drive towards sustainability.
Walter Kaminski is Professor of Technical and Macromolecular Chemistry at the University of Hamburg. His main field of research is polymer science. He supervises a research group looking into recycling plastics and scrap tyres through pyrolysis, at the same time yielding valuable hydrocarbon fraction from hydrocarbon-containing waste. The life-cycle perspective addresses both production and recycling while minimising use of resources and minimising waste. Walter Kaminski has developed highly active, soluble metallocene catalyst systems for the polymerization of olefins, allowing efficient use of feedstock resources for a range of polymers. He has lectured in the fields of chemical engineering, energy production, recycling, land filling and macromolecular chemistry.
The EuCheMS Lecture honours outstanding achievements by a European chemist. It also serves to enhance the image of European chemistry and to promote scientific cooperation in Europe. It rotates among EuCheMS member societies and is delivered at a scientific event outside the lecturer’s own country.
