Report on 5th ECHEMS
The 5th ECHEMS meeting with the title "Electrochemistry in Functional Molecules and Materials" was held in Weingarten, Germany during June 7-10, 2009.
The conference was in the spirit of the past ECHEMS meetings, here with molecular sciences, demonstrating the overlap with electrochemistry and bringing closely together established and younger scientists in a remote place for intense discussion. The conference was attended by 83 colleagues from 23 countries from all continents. In addition to 5 invited keynote lectures, 30 oral and 36 poster presentations were given on the following subjects:
- (organic) electrosynthesis
- electroanalysis and techniques
- electrochemistry in non-conventional environments
- applications
- electroative polymers
with great success and high attendance from the audience.
As support and recognition to the young scientists, three poster prizes were awarded to participants up to the PhD student level:
- 1st award to Noureen Siraj, group of Günter Grampp, Graz, Austria - Cyclic Voltammetric Study of Heterogeneous Electron Transfer Rate Constants of Organic Compounds in Room Temperature Ionic Liquids
- 2nd award to Nadine Jacobs, group of Gunther Wittstock, Oldenburg, Germany - Electrochemical and Spectroscopical Investigation of Multinuclear Transition Metal Complexes
- 3rd award to Axel Kirste, group of Siegfried Waldvogel, Bonn, Germany - Selective Anodic Coupling Reaction of Phenols on BDD Electrodes
I would like to thank EuCheMS for the support of this conference.
